The DeLaval ICC app counts stained somatic cells present in a cow milk image taken with the iPod touch or iPhone camera. It provides the user with the cell count in number of cells per µl, and it also provides the milk image that was used for counting the cells in the milk sample. The results from every measurement can be allocated to a specific cow and udder quarter if required and stored in the DeLaval ICC app with date and time stamp. A measurement report can be sent to an email address and the stored data can be synchronized with another iPod touch/iPhone device with the DeLaval ICC app installed.

Counting of somatic cells in milk from dairy animals is a widely used indicator of the health status of the udder. In addition, it is commonly used as an indicator of milk quality.

The complete Delaval cell counter ICC solution consists of:
1. The DeLaval ICC app
2. The DeLaval cell counter ICC device with light source and optics
3. iPod Touch or iPhone 5 with rear facing camera
4. The DeLaval cell count cassette

The milk image is obtained when a DeLaval cell count cassette with a milk sample is inserted into the DeLaval cell counter ICC device.
